Feed the Future Tanzania Mboga na Matunda
Call for Expressions of Interest
The Feed the Future Tanzania Mboga na Matunda (FTFT MnM) activity will benefit a large number of smallholder farmers in Zanzibar and the southern regions of Morogoro, Iringa, Mbeya and Songwe by improving the engagement of smallholder farmers in the country’s horticulture value chains. FTFT MnM will increase the competitiveness, inclusiveness and nutritional status of people involved in the horticulture subsector by:
- Scaling improved technologies and practices that lead to increased productivity of smallholders; - Building markets for horticulture products, including nutritionally important ones; - Formalizing market arrangements for smallholder farmers; - Including large numbers of women and youth, in targeted interventions; - Improving the access to inputs, services and finance opportunities in rural communities; - Improving the efficiency of value chain transactions through the adoption of good business practices and the capacity building of stakeholders; and - Strengthening the overall capacity of the industry through data-driven analysis and policy work.
FTFT MnM is pleased to invite Tanzanian-based companies, organizations, and financial institutions working in agriculture or nutrition to partner with the activity through a grants mechanism, supplemented by partner contributions, to support the program’s stated objectives. We are looking for enterprises that can demonstrate significant engagement in the country’s horticulture value chains with meaningful investment/expansion plans in the aforementioned regions of Tanzania. Horticultural crops are limited to vegetables, fruits, spices, or other products originating from these crops.
If you are interested in partnering with FTFT MnM, please submit an Expression of Interest to MnM_grants@fintrac.com by no later than 4:00 PM on Monday, April 24th, 2017. Selected organizations will be invited to attend one of our informational meetings, which will be held in early May, in Mbeya, Iringa, Morogoro, Dar es Salaam, and Zanzibar.
Please include the following information in the Expression of Interest: - Name of firm/organization, full contact information, and number of years of formal operation. - Brief description of current activities (nature and size of company or organization; information on current horticultural activities; location of organization/field activities; target groups or customers.) - Brief summary of how the FTFT MnM activity could partner with your company or organization. Show clearly how and where activity resources would be utilized (activities, anticipated FTFT MnM regions, products, crops, etc.). - Summary of the anticipated impact to smallholder farmers, the horticulture subsector, and to your company or organization. - Estimated budget for the activity.
Please limit the Expression of Interest to no more than 2 pages. Any pages beyond this limit will be excluded from review or consideration. This Call for Expressions of Interest does not legally obligate FTFT MnM to award subgrants. No commitment is made, either expressed or implied, to compensate organizations for costs incurred in the preparation or submission of their Expression of Interest.
