Job Summary:
Develops policy, directs and coordinates human resources activities, such as employment, compensation, performance management, labor relations, benefits, training, and employee services by performing the following duties and responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develops policies on recruitment and participates in recruitment processes to fill vacant positions in the company.
  2. Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward Company core values and goals.
  3. Supervises and administer the human resources information system and records keeping.
  4. Develops and administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the company.
  5. Identifies and coordinates training programs in the company
  6. Oversees discipline and industrial relations and other employee relations affairs as per Employment and Labour Relations Act (2004) and Labour Institutions Act (2004).
  7. Represents the company at labour-related hearings and investigations within the company and in the labour courts.
  8. Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  9. Identifies and advise the company management on legal requirements and government regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance. Also responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  10. Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  11. Administers benefits programs such as death, pension plans, vacation, and leave as per the labour laws and Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Desirable skills & qualifications:

• Be a Tanzanian with a university degree (or similar qualifications) in Human Resource Management, Public Administration from a recognized institution; master’s degree and a background in labour laws and/or industrial relations is an added advantage.
• A minimum of 10 years relevant of working experience out of which at least four (4) years should be in a senior position in large company/organization.
• Strong knowledge of local labor law and employment practices. And must have experience in working with the trade union.
• Fluent in English (Oral and written) and very good command in Kiswahili language.
• Problem solving, decision making and negotiation skills.
• Must be self starter with excellent demonstrated teamwork and excellent communication skills to all levels of employee’s categories.
• Capable to work in a multinational/cultural environment.
• Excellent time management and ability to prioritize.
