The Tanzanian Training Centre for International Health (TTCIH) is a health training institution, established in 2006 under a public-private partnership between the Ministry of Health, Novartis Foundation and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. TTCIH aims at supportining the Tanzania govement’s effort to strengthn human resource development. The TTCIH Managment is now looking for a motivated, qualified and highly experienced candidate to fill the position of Assistant Accountant. S/he will be based in Ifakara, Ifakara Town Council, Morogoro, Tanzania
We are looking for a skilled Assistant Accountant to perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Assistant Accountant responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and reconciling bank statements. S/he will also run accounting software program (e.g. ACCOUNTING EDGE) to process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts, working with team members for collections of fees charged from AMO, CO distance learning, and CO resident students.
ii. A successful Assistant Accountant should be familiar with all accounting procedures and have a flair for numbers.
iii. Ultimately, a successful Assistant Accountant will ensure that the organization daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively
iv. S/he will be responsible for effective completion of other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Diploma in Accounting or related field
2+ years of experience focused on accounting/reconciliations, financial statement preparation and analysis, budgeting, and client support.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Extensive experience with general ledger systems is required
Knowledge of fund accounting for non-profit organizations.
Experience in supporting international operations and foreign currency transactions are strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of Tanzanian Government financial and procurement regulations and experience with standard compliance and reporting requirements of institutional donors.
Advanced Excel skills
Experience in key finance and accounting functions including payments and accounts payable processing, revenue recognition and other general ledger maintenance, cash management, budgeting, financial analysis, and strategic business decision support.
Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Duration of the Position:
The term for the position is three years (renewable). Earliest possible entry is 15th September 2017
