The Associate Product Manager coordinates the activity of the Analytics Analysts in the generation of data-tools for business users throughout the company by co-designing dashboards, metrics, and analytical reports together with business partners and technical product owners to shape how the Business uses data. Key areas of responsibility focus on management of pipeline of analytics projects and requests, cross-functional partnering to improve data usage and management of business-facing data tools. These key areas consist of:

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly dashboards and other reporting based on business requirements
  • Respond to and prioritize inbound ad hoc requests from various departments
  • Communicate data infrastructure needs and issues to the software team
  • Collaborate in design and delivery of in-depth quantitative analysis to generate insights around key functions (e.g. customer acquisition, retention, credit performance, solar-home-system usage
  • Collaborate with business partners and product owners to define metrics, analytics tools and tracking mechanism to best solve existing business problem
  • Develop training materials, policies, data analysis best practices, and other aspects of the OGE data-analytics playbook
  • Standardize the tracking of business pilots and experiments to facilitate scale-up of pilots and maximize company-wide learning
  • Design architecture of corporate reporting tools (e.g. Looker) to maximize both robustness to data changes and users’ ability to self-serve
  • Maintain reporting-stack, monitor usage, and design initiatives to improve data-awareness throughout the business
  • Maintain corporate data and metrics dictionary as well as repository of core business dashboards and history of experiments
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of business metrics via audits of new and existing reports as part of a standardized quality control process
  • Management and scheduling of tasks for data analysts within the analytics team
  • Provide guidance and problem solving support to analysts to answer reporting requests
  • Creation of tickets and work units to manage workload of analysts
  • Clarify team processes and guidelines for work completion


  • Bsc/Msc in Computer Science, Maths or Economics
  • Experience with product/project management (i.e., ability to balance priorities, clarify stakeholder requirements, lead cross-functional efforts, and keep deliverables on schedule)
  • 3 years’ experience in consulting, finance, data science/analytics or other quantitatively rigorous position
  • Experience with African markets and with renewable energy and consumer financing
  • Management or supervisory experience
  • Advanced knowledge of programming i.e. proficiency with SQL and Looker
  • Knowledge of statistical methods i.e. power analysis, regression analysis, sub-group/cohort analysis, predictive analytics
  • Knowledge of relevant software i.e. Google Docs, MS Office, Gmail, Asana, Jira, Slack, SURGE, and other OGE software
  • Proficiency in designing automated corporate dashboards and decision making tools
  • Understanding of business process optimization
  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in Swahili and French would be advantageous
  • Analytical and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and proactive
