Udzungwa Forest Tented Camp is situated right on the border of the Udzungwa Mountains National Park, close to the National Park Headquarters and main gate at Mangula. The lodge is known locally as Hondo Hondo meaning "hornbill" in Swahili, due to the amazing number of these remarkable birds which make the area their home.
The camping facilities lie at the foot of the hill near to the Lozenge Bar and Restaurant. Guests can set up their tents in a spacious area situated away from the road with great views up across the forest canopy of the Udzungwa Mountains National Park, and out over the lush green Kilombero valley. The campsite of course also has a clean and well-maintained shower and toilet block for use of all guests.
