Sable Mountain Lodge began its life in 1999 as four stone cottages and a small restaurant & bar. Built entirely by the Tent With A View team, most are still with the company today. The Majority of the Sable team come from the nearby village of Kisaki, upon whose land the lodge is built.
Today, Sable has grown to eight stone cottages and five tented rooms including two honeymoon suites, two restaurants & bars and a fresh water swimming pool and a new large watering hole and hideout from where you can watch what comes down to the water to drink. There is also a beautiful two story villa, equally good for families and couples, set on top of a hill away from the main lodge with the best view in Selous
Sable Mountain is located in the North Western corner of Selous. The boundary to the reserve passes through the upper restaurant and bar area.
The closest village is Kisaki where the TAZARA train from Dar es Salaam stops twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays.
As the name suggests, Sable Mountain is situated over several hills and this elevation means stunning views of the surrounding bush and distant mountains as well as over the reserve itself.
