What is Ignite?
Ignite is a community-driven event comprising a series of speedy presentations. Ignite events skew toward the geeky and professional, are usually innovative and fresh, and always involve drinking.
Basically, a person prepares a brief presentation on any topic. They get exactly 20 slides to tell their story, and each slide displays onscreen for exactly 15 seconds. So that’s 5 minutes per presenter.
There may be twenty or so different presenters any given night. There is always free beer.
Then, you come, and watch, and drink free beer. You might even learn something. In any case, you’ll have a great time.
What is Ignite Dar es Salaam?
Ignite Dar es Salaam is an evening of 5-minute talks by local folks who have a burning passion and the guts to get onstage and share it with their hometown crowd.
Some talks are serious science, others are pure satire – but each talk must be about a compelling idea or story. Attendees come to learn and to be inspired.
Let’s face it, Dar contain gobs of smart, talented, funny, inventive and creative people who may not otherwise have a forum to speak about the emerging ideas they’re most passionate about.
Ignite will provide a context, a venue, and a wildly enthusiastic fan base (lubricated by free beer) to give these speakers a moment to shine.
