About Sailing Dhow Cruises With Zanzibar Watersports: The sunsets in Zanzibar can be stunning and the best way to get an uninterrupted view is from the deck of a sailing dhow. These comfortable traditional style boats will take you from your hotel and cruise around past the lighthouse and the fishing fleet, allowing for some great photo opportunities. Then, if you choose to, we can take you to the reefs at Kendwa to enjoy a bit of snorkelling before the sun goes down. You then head back under the power of sail and enjoy the feeling of the wind at your back, just as the old Arab traders must have done.

We do have a few advantages over the old Arab traders though. Our boats all have engines in case the wind drops off and are fully kitted out with life jackets, radios and first aid kits. All the crews are experts and if you ask them very nicely, will let you have a go at the controls so you can see how a sailing dhow handles. Perfect for keen sailors. The Arab traders had a choice of fine wines, beers, sodas and some delicious snacks to see you to dinner on their boats either!

These sailing dhows are available to charter for a whole day too. You can have a whole boat just for you and your partner or family and be taken to one of several different sites. With perfect timing we can even take you snorkeling for a day to one of our reefs, serve you a delicious lunch and then bring you back to Nungwi as the sun is setting so you get the best from all of our trips combined into one!
